In an interview representative WFP for Pakistan tells about services of WFP regarding food aid in flood affected areas he says, “WFP is distributing food baskets among people which include flour, pulses, ghee, high energy biscuits, food for pregnant women and lactating mothers. Relief services and food will be provided for 4 months until the people are back to normal”.

Villagers of district Shaheed Benazirabad complain that after rains due to increasing number of mosquitoes their livestock animals are dying. They say, “government has not done anything for us”. EDO Health says, “Government is not able to spray whole district of 1.3 million population, it has sent 1000 pesticide bags in each UC, so that villagers can spray in their houses and compounds to save themselves and their livestock from mosquito bites”.

Many people lost their business during flood last year. After flood they are unable to establish their business again. For this reason locals of Tando Allah Yar have opened small stalls where they sale candies, vegetables and other items so they can earn money for living.

Government is taking efforts to drain out stagnant water in district Shaheed Benazirabad

District administration has installed several water lifting pumps around district Benazirabad. An official of district administration says, “Laborers are working day and night to drain the rain water out and within 10 to 12 days all water will be drained out of the city”. Laborers say that they are getting paid 8000 rupees per month to drain out water”.

An interview with provincial rehabilitation minister regarding stagnant water

In an interview rehabilitation minister says, “Sindh government is trying to drain water as soon as possible. Government is helping affected without discrimination. It will take 15 days to a month to drain out water. Wapda (government of Pakistan) and engineers of army are also working to drain out water. If people have any problem they can contact DCO’S, MNA’s and MPA’s in their area”.
