Flash flooding due to heavy rain falls in districts of Sindh have caused a massive loss
Districts such as Tharparker, Badin and Mirpurkhas recently hit by thunder storms and heavy downpour areas are flooded due to flash flooding. CRSS has reached this area. After surveying the area reporter Sarmad Aziz says that people are trapped and waiting for rescue, and they need food and water. Locals say that it will take 15 to 20 days for the water to subside.
Early warning system and flood relief is ready for possible flood
Flood affected people are in fear of possible flood this year. DCO Layyah says that “All preparations are made for possible floods; people will be warned before flood. Secretary UC’s, revenue staff and health department workers will be informed through an Early warning System about the situation of flood. Flood Relief camps are present in Layyah.
“IOM” will provide shelter and non food items in case of possible flood
During interview Public information officer IOM tells that his organization is working on shelter cluster lead coordination and non food items for possible flood. Relief goods and stocks available are prepositioned. IOM will help district government for early disaster warning system. Trainings for life saving are given in Punjab. Donors are asked to provide funds for relief of possible flood.
Poor Irrigation system in flood affected areas
After flood the main problem in UC Murgai Rajanpur is irrigation system. Due to flood big and deep holes are formed containing water in land. Many diseases are occurring due to contaminated water. People are having transport problems. District Municipal corporation Rajanpur district officer says that “dewatering is done in these areas through heavy machinery; they will be used in future for possible flood”.

Public relations and information officer tells that a model village on international level is in progress with all facilities for flood affected people.
